Product Manufacture, Maintenance & Warranty Policy

1. Introduction

Everyday Play Limited manufactures and installs commercial playground equipment and associated safety surfacing. We are committed to providing durable, high-quality products designed for educational and recreational environments.

This document outlines our product warranties, installation guarantees, maintenance recommendations and exclusions. Customers should familiarise themselves with these terms and ensure that all equipment and surfacing are properly maintained throughout their service life.
All warranty periods commence from the date of completion of the installation, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

2. Playground Equipment – Product Warranty

12-month parts and labour warranty
Playground equipment supplied and installed by Everyday Play Limited is covered by a 12-month parts and labour warranty from the date of completion.
At our discretion, we will repair or replace components found to be defective due to design, materials, finish or workmanship, subject to the terms and exclusions set out in this document.

This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, misuse, vandalism, accidental damage, cosmetic deterioration or damage resulting from inadequate inspection or maintenance.

3. Installation Standards

Our playground equipment and associated surfacing are manufactured and installed with reference to the applicable requirements of:
• BS EN 1176 – Playground equipment and surfacing: general safety requirements and test methods.
• BS EN 1177 – Impact-attenuating playground surfacing: determination of critical fall height and applicable performance requirements.
The applicable standards depend on the equipment, surfacing and scope of works supplied.

4. Installation Warranty – Safety Surfacing

One-year installation warranty
Everyday Play Limited provides a one-year installation warranty for safety surfacing, commencing from the date of completion.
During this period, we will rectify installation-related defects and snags covered by this warranty free of charge.

This warranty applies to defects arising from our installation workmanship. It does not cover damage caused by vandalism, misuse, accidental damage, excessive wear and tear, third-party interference or inadequate maintenance.

Where a reported issue is identified as a product defect rather than an installation defect, it will be assessed under the relevant product warranty.

5. Safety Surfacing – Product Warranties
Everyday Play Limited provides the following product warranties for safety surfacing materials supplied and installed by the company. All warranty periods commence from the date of completion of the installation.

Artificial grass – 10 year warranty
Wetpour rubber surfacing – 5 year warranty
Rubber mulch surfacing – 2 year warranty
Rubber safety mats – 3 year warranty

Scope of product warranty

The warranties listed above cover qualifying faults in the surfacing materials only. Where a product fault is accepted under the applicable warranty, the replacement materials will be supplied at no charge.

The product warranties do not include the cost of labour, removal or disposal of existing materials, preparation of the affected area, reinstatement or installation of replacement materials.

The one-year installation warranty is separate and covers qualifying installation-related defects and snags reported during that period. Where an issue is covered by the installation warranty, Everyday Play Limited will rectify the problem free of charge.

Artificial grass
The ten-year artificial grass product warranty is provided by Everyday Play Limited. Where a qualifying product fault is accepted, replacement grass material will be supplied by the manufacturer.

The product warranty covers the replacement material only. Labour and associated costs for removing or replacing the affected grass are excluded from the product warranty, except where the work is covered by the separate installation warranty or applicable law requires otherwise.

Warranty exclusions
Product warranties do not cover normal wear and tear, vandalism, misuse, accidental or deliberate damage, cosmetic deterioration or damage resulting from inappropriate maintenance, improper use or third-party interference.

All claims are subject to assessment by Everyday Play Limited against the applicable warranty terms.

Nothing in these terms affects any statutory rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

6. Wetpour Surfacing – Colour Variation & Appearance

Wetpour safety surfacing is manufactured using rubber granules bound together with polyurethane resin. The appearance of the finished surface can be affected by temperature, sunlight, weather conditions and the curing process.

Colour variation during curing
During periods of high temperatures or bright sunshine, the polyurethane resin may develop a temporary brown or amber tint. This can affect the appearance of the rubber granules and cause the finished surface to appear different from the selected colour.

For example, a light blue surface may initially appear green or teal.

Colour changes can occur while the surface is curing, generally overnight. Consequently, the surface may appear one colour at the end of installation and a different colour the following morning.

The colours most susceptible to noticeable variation include:

• Light grey
• Light blue
• Eggshell
• Beige

However, all colours may be affected.

Over time, ultraviolet exposure may reduce the resin’s discolouration, allowing the original colour of the granules to become more apparent again. The extent and timing of any change cannot be guaranteed.

Colour variation associated with the curing process cannot be entirely prevented when using standard resin.

Enhanced resin option

An aliphatic polyurethane resin is available at an additional cost. This can help minimise discolouration associated with ultraviolet exposure and improve colour stability.
Customers should discuss this option with Everyday Play before installation if colour consistency is a particular priority.

Installation joints

Where a wetpour installation extends over several days, a visible joint or seam may occur between sections installed at different times. This should be considered when selecting colours and planning larger installations.

7. Safety Surfacing – Purpose & Limitations

Playground safety surfacing is designed to help reduce the risk and severity of injuries, particularly serious head injuries resulting from falls from play equipment, when correctly specified, installed and maintained.

Safety surfacing does not eliminate all risks of injury. Minor injuries and more serious injuries, including limb fractures, may still occur.

The protective performance of surfacing depends on its specification, condition, installation and suitability for the critical fall height of the associated equipment.

Customers must ensure that surfacing is regularly inspected and maintained in accordance with the relevant requirements.

8. Artificial Grass – Product Characteristics

Artificial grass supplied by Everyday Play Limited is selected for use in appropriate playground and recreational environments.

The applicable product specification determines its suitability for the intended use, including any impact-attenuating performance requirements. Suitable shock pads may be required to achieve the specified critical fall height.

Artificial grass is covered by the ten-year product warranty described in Section 5, subject to the relevant exclusions.

Customers should ensure that the grass and any associated shock pads are maintained in accordance with the product requirements.

9. Timber – Treatment, Characteristics & Warranty
Pressure-treated timber
Timber used in our play and learning equipment is pressure-treated with Tanalith E preservative to help protect against fungal decay and insect attack.

Our equipment is manufactured using joinery-quality timber selected to support durability and stability and to help minimise splintering.

Natural weathering
Timber is a natural material and will change in appearance over time. As it weathers, treated timber will generally mellow to a grey colour.
Timber may also develop checks (natural cracks) as moisture levels change in response to weather conditions. These checks may open and close over time and are a normal characteristic of timber.
Natural checking and weathering do not, in themselves, indicate product failure. However, any cracks, splinters or deterioration that may affect safety must be assessed and addressed where necessary.

Timber protection and expected service life
Tanalith E-treated timber has a stated life expectancy of six years against rot and insect attack. This statement relates to expected protection and should not be interpreted as a separate six-year warranty unless expressly confirmed in writing by Everyday Play Limited.
Any applicable timber warranty will be subject to the relevant terms, including exclusions for weathering, physical damage, misuse, inadequate maintenance and damage caused by strimmers or other grounds-maintenance equipment.

10. Workmanship Warranty

All installation workmanship carried out by Everyday Play Limited is covered by a one-year warranty from the date of completion.
This warranty covers qualifying defects arising from our workmanship. It does not cover normal wear and tear, vandalism, accidental damage, misuse, inadequate maintenance or damage caused by third parties.

11. Inspection, Maintenance & Safety Checks

Regular inspection and maintenance are essential to help keep playground equipment safe, functional and in good condition throughout its service life.

Following installation, Everyday Play strongly recommends that the customer implements a suitable inspection and maintenance programme.

Routine visual inspections
Routine visual inspections should be carried out by the site’s designated maintenance team, manager or caretaker. These checks should identify obvious hazards arising from use, weather conditions, vandalism or general deterioration.

Everyday Play provides inspection recording forms on completion of a project to help customers maintain appropriate records.

Annual safety inspections

Everyday Play offers annual safety inspections, with reports provided to the customer outlining the general condition of the equipment and any identified safety concerns or areas requiring attention.

These inspections may also be undertaken by a suitably qualified and accredited playground inspector.

Maintenance and repairs

Everyday Play can provide routine maintenance, repairs and equipment upgrades where required.
Any defects identified during inspections should be assessed and addressed appropriately.

Equipment presenting an immediate safety risk should be taken out of use until the necessary remedial work has been completed.

The managing authority remains responsible for ensuring that suitable inspection, maintenance and supervision arrangements are in place.

12. Warranty Exclusions
The following exclusions apply to the relevant products and services supplied by Everyday Play Limited.

12.1 Normal wear and tear, excessive use and physical damage

Playground equipment is subject to wear and deterioration through normal use. The rate of wear will depend on factors such as the location, frequency of use, number and age of users, environmental conditions and maintenance.
Higher-than-anticipated levels of use, adult use, vandalism and physical damage can accelerate deterioration and should be considered when planning inspections and maintenance.

Excessive wear and tear, vandalism, accidental damage and physical damage to timber, metal components, fixings, surfacing and other materials are excluded from warranty cover.

12.2 Damage to timber from strimmers and grounds maintenance

Strimmers must not be used around timber posts or other timber components.
Contact from strimmers can damage the outer surface of timber and compromise the protective preservative treatment. Once this protective layer is damaged, moisture can penetrate the timber, increasing the risk of decay and deterioration.

Timber rot or degradation resulting from strimmer damage is excluded from warranty cover.

Customers should take care when carrying out grass cutting and grounds maintenance around playground equipment and use appropriate alternative methods to avoid damaging timber.

12.3 Safety surfacing

Safety surfacing can be vulnerable to physical damage, vandalism, misuse and deterioration caused by inappropriate maintenance.
Physical damage, vandalism, normal wear and tear and cosmetic deterioration are excluded from warranty cover.

Qualifying inherent product failures will be assessed under the applicable surfacing product warranty. Any remedy will be subject to the terms of that warranty.

Installation-related defects reported within the one-year installation warranty will be assessed separately and, where covered, rectified free of charge.

12.4 Timber structures, decks, floors and stages
Timber structures, decks, floors, stages and other timber components may be affected by physical damage, vandalism, weathering and general wear and tear.

These conditions are excluded from warranty cover where they arise from natural material characteristics, external damage or circumstances outside the applicable warranty terms.
Any qualifying inherent failure attributable to the timber preservative treatment will be considered under the applicable warranty provisions. Damage caused by physical impact, misuse, vandalism, strimmer damage or inadequate maintenance is excluded.

13. Reporting a Warranty Claim

Customers who believe a product or installation has developed a defect covered by warranty should contact Everyday Play Limited as soon as reasonably possible.
When reporting a potential claim, please provide:

• The original quotation or order reference.
• The installation completion date and site address.
• A clear description of the issue.
• Photographs or videos showing the affected area, where possible.
• Details of any relevant inspections, maintenance or repairs already undertaken.

Everyday Play will review the information provided and determine whether the reported issue falls within the applicable warranty or guarantee.

Where necessary, a site inspection may be arranged to establish the cause and extent of the defect before remedial work is agreed.

Customers should not assume that repair or replacement costs will be covered until the claim has been assessed and the proposed action agreed with Everyday Play.

14. Liability & Responsibilities of the Managing Authority

Everyday Play Limited’s responsibility under its warranties is limited to the equipment and surfacing supplied and installed by Everyday Play Limited, together with the applicable warranty obligations set out in this document.

The managing authority is responsible for ensuring that appropriate inspections, maintenance and safety management procedures are implemented in accordance with the equipment manufacturer’s instructions, this document and the applicable requirements of BS EN 1176 and BS EN 1177.

Failure to carry out appropriate inspections and maintenance may compromise the safety and performance of the equipment and surfacing and may affect the validity of a warranty claim where that failure has caused or contributed to the defect or damage.

Everyday Play Limited reserves the right to decline warranty claims where the relevant warranty conditions have not been met.

Any responsibility or liability arising from an incident at the site will be assessed in accordance with the circumstances, applicable law and the relevant contractual terms. Nothing in this document excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by law.

15. General Conditions
Warranty periods are specific to the relevant products, materials and workmanship described in this document. Where different warranty periods apply to different components of a project, the relevant component-specific terms will apply.

All warranty claims are subject to assessment against the applicable warranty terms, product specification and exclusions.

Nothing in this document is intended to exclude or restrict any statutory rights that customers may have under applicable law.
