A little about this project
Woodchurch CE Primary School approached us with a vision to transform an underutilised outdoor space into an engaging, inclusive, and stimulating environment for their pupils. The aim was to create a multi-sensory walkway and covered area that would support both play and sensory development, alongside improving the overall look and feel of the playground.
We designed and installed a bespoke sensory walkway canopy featuring a vibrant coloured Perspex roof, allowing natural light to filter through in a spectrum of colours, creating an immersive sensory experience throughout the day. To further enhance interaction and accessibility, we incorporated a rain wheel panel and a hand press sensory panel, encouraging tactile exploration and cause-and-effect learning.
In addition to the sensory walkway, the school also requested an upgrade to the surfacing. We installed approximately 90 square metres of high-quality artificial grass over the existing tarmac, instantly softening the space and creating a more natural, welcoming environment for play and relaxation.
The finished project has transformed the area into a vibrant, inclusive space that supports sensory engagement, imaginative play, and everyday enjoyment for all pupils.
