About Everyday Play

Where is Everyday Play based?

Everyday Play’s Head Office is proudly located in Biddenden, Kent, where our friendly team manages design and client services.

Our main workshop, where all playground equipment is carefully crafted by our skilled craftsmen, is based further north in Northampton. This setup allows us to combine local customer care with high-quality manufacturing.

We primarily work with primary schools across Kent, the South East, and London, helping them create safe, inspiring playgrounds. We also partner with local councils to design and install playgrounds for community spaces, as well as with local attractions looking to enhance their outdoor play areas.

See our Case Studies for more information.

Everyday Play is a family-owned business led by our Directors, Luke and Lewis – two best friends who are passionate about play and love what they do. Their hands-on approach means we deliver playgrounds that children truly enjoy. We don’t sub our work out and have teams in house for playground design, manufacture to install.

Our mission is to make a real difference in children’s lives. Outdoor play is crucial for building confidence, friendships, and important life skills, particularly for children with special educational needs (SEN). We are dedicated to providing opportunities for children who may not have access to other play and learning environments.

Our team is made up of passionate, in-house experts who are committed to creating the best play experiences for children. From designers and project managers to play specialists, we work together to ensure every project is safe, engaging, and tailored to the needs of the children using it.

Health and Safety

Are safety requirements taken into account when making playground equipment?

Yes, all of our playground installations meet safety standards to ensure it’s safe for children to play on. Every consideration is taken into account, from finger trap sizes, critical fall heights and condition of the equipment. You can find out more about the safety standards and laws for play equipment here.

In the UK, playground health and safety standards are not legally binding, but they remain crucial for ensuring a safe environment. By adhering to these guidelines, you demonstrate a commitment to best practices and safety compliance for your playground. Following these standards helps safeguard children, staff, visitors, and your facility or business. Additionally, being able to show compliance can be vital if any claims or incidents arise.

Depending on the equipment you are adding to your outdoor area, the recommended safety surfacing will vary. Our playground design team is knowledgeable about Critical Fall Height (CFH) requirements and the shock-absorbing safety surfacing needed, so this is always considered when designing and quoting for playground equipment. You can find our safety surfacing guide here.

Standard artificial grass alone does not provide sufficient fall protection under playground equipment. However, when combined with a suitable shock-absorbing underlayer, such as rubber mats or foam padding, it can meet Critical Fall Height (CFH) requirements. This makes it a low-maintenance, visually appealing option for safe, durable playground surfaces.

Critical Fall Height (CFH) is the maximum height from which a child can fall onto a safety surface without risking serious injury. Playground equipment must have surfacing that meets the appropriate CFH requirements, as specified in BS EN 1177 standards.

Yes. Bonded rubber mulch is designed to cushion falls, resist displacement, and last longer than loose bark. It is durable, low-maintenance, and suitable for a range of playground environments.

Many surfacing options, including wetpour, play carpet, and bonded rubber mulch, can be installed over tarmac, concrete, or compacted stone, provided the base is stable and in good condition.

Yes. Surfaces like wetpour, Conipave, or artificial grass with proper underlayers are smooth, stable, and meet accessibility standards, allowing children with mobility challenges to enjoy the playground safely.

Maintenance depends on the type of equipment and surfacing. Regular cleaning, visual inspections, and minor repairs are usually sufficient. Rubber and wetpour surfaces require occasional topping up or patching to maintain CFH compliance.
