A little about this project

Southborough Primary School approached Everyday Play looking to transform an existing grass mound within their school field into an exciting and engaging play space. Before any work could begin, they required the soil to be tested to ensure the mound was suitable for development. Once approval had been granted, we worked closely with the school to design a play area that would make the most of this previously underused space.

The school’s original vision included a crawl tunnel through the centre of the mound, artificial grass surfacing, steps leading to the top, a slide, and a range of climbing features including ropes and other play elements. Following the design and quotation process, the final scheme was expanded to create a fully inclusive natural play environment.

Our team reshaped the existing mound before installing new turf and transforming it with a variety of exciting play features. These included tyre steps, pull-up ropes with stepping logs, a sloping rock wall, a 1.2m slide, a crawl tunnel, four different climbing challenges and triple chin-up bars. Rubber safety surfacing was installed throughout the play area to provide a safe landing zone around each item of equipment while preserving the natural appearance of the mound.

The completed project has turned an unused area of the school grounds into a dynamic play destination that encourages climbing, balancing, crawling and active outdoor play, giving pupils an exciting new space to explore and enjoy.
